Spread over an area of 745 sq km, Buxa is a famous tourist place in North Bengal and Dooars Region. Buxa derived its name from the famous Buxa Fort. Buxa Fort is a historic fort sited midst the dense forest used by the British rulers of India as a high security prison and detention camp in the 1930s.
